Born and raised in Buffalo N.Y., Rosemary's fascination with color and painting began at age five. With the help of her mentor, Margaret Keane BSA, she painted her first oil titled "The Disappearance of Dorothy". Her love of art continued throughout her college years where she continued to explore various mediums and show her work while earning her Bachelor’s degree in fine arts. Rosemary is best known for big vibrant watercolors of poppies and flora. She is drawn to vivid colors, voluptuous shapes, unusual light and contrasts. Much of her work is in watercolor because "I love the fluidness, transparency and movement of the paint" but many people (such as myself) love her acrylic works which have beautiful textures that are difficult to capture on film. Although Rosemary paints primarily on 140 pound watercolor paper, her more recent works are painted on canvases which do not require glass, framing or matting. Occasionally she paints on Japanese rice paper which gives a very tranquil effect. She also enjoys painting with acrylics because they "allow me to paint big and use texture". Rosemary's goal is to "Create art while living life to the fullest, being happy and using my art to express my emotions and share them with others”. Rosemary's work is in many juried shows throughout the country which are updated on this website. Her work can currently be seen on display at The Frame Merchant, Mayfield Heights, Ohio and Sky Bank, Pepper Pike, Ohio, and Ecclipse Hair, Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Her work can also be found in various private and corporate collections in the U.S.A, Canada, and Europe. She also welcomes commission work and will work with prospective buyers to incorporate any themes or colors.
